Who is Herr Cazotte from Anecdotes of Destiny ; and, Ehrengard and what is their importance?

Herr Cazotte is an artist at the Duchess of Babenhausen's court. He is known for his artistic ability, as well as his talent for seducing women. Over the course of the story, he writes long letters to his benefactress, disclosing his intent to seduce Ehrengard.
