Who is Ferdinand from Anecdotes of Destiny ; and, Ehrengard and what is their importance?

Ferdinand appears in "Tempests". He was the sailor who helped Malli save the ship Sophie Hosewinckel. Injured during the incident, Ferdinand later dies. Malli imagines that she is the spirit Ariel and Ferdinand is her assistent in the play, "The Tempest".
