What happens in Part Two, Chapter Five when Gabriel's unit goes ashore?

In Part Two, Chapter Five when Gabriel's unit goes ashore he learns that his unit is not supposed to land until the following day. Most of Gabriel's unit is sent back, but Gabriel and seventy-six soldiers already ashore remain. Gabriel goes in search of senior officers in an attempt to learn what he should do. He finds Bilderbeck who tells him that his unit has not even landed in the right location.
