Who is James Cobleigh from Almost Paradise and what is their importance?

James Cobleigh is Nicholas' father. He is a law school student at Harvard when he meets Win, and the two go onto marry. When James falls in love with another woman, however, he plots to divorce Win, and it seems that Win's father was right..... he only married Win for her money and her name. Over time, James begins to cheat openly on Win, and she eventually kicks him out.

James is miserable after their separation, and it seems apparent that he still loves his wife in his own way and misses their life together. This does not, however, stop James from taking multiple lovers. The couple never divorces, and after sixteen years of separation..... they get back together.
