What was Margaret's family like growing up?

Margaret was one of eight children. They were poor, and Charlie was a drinker who died at 51 of cirrhosis of the liver. He was hard working, yet made homemade likker. He did not beat religion into his family. The kids were not always good to each other as brothers and sisters are sometimes not. But they were loved.
