What kind of a man did Sam become, and what did Rick think about him?

Sam worked hard at a cotton mill but made enough to have a home with his wife and kids. He took care of momma while his brother Mark was in jail and Rick wandered around the country writing stories. He only asked that Rick tell him of the places he had been, but Rick often canceled because work kept him busy. Once he finally made it home and the two brothers went fishing. Rick wondered if Mark's life would have been different if he was the kind of brother to him that Sam was to Rick.
