How did Mark's life affect momma and why?

Mark lived a troublesome life. He was often in jail where his drinking led him. Every time he went to jail, his mother aged. She was so worried that he would be harmed there. She was not ashamed but rather felt responsible as though she made him become an alcoholic and a trouble maker.
