Who is Deisha?

Deisha is Tom’s best friend from high school and one of the girls he sleeps with while grieving his mother’s death. As kids they felt like outsiders, actively disliking everything. However, as an adult, Deisha tries to talk to Tom about his life, encouraging him to take initiative to do something, arguing that contributing to society is not a bad thing.
