Who is Milek from Alicia and what is their importance?

Milek was one Alicia's brothers' friends. He survives all of the purges of the ghetto in Buczacz and went onto join a partisan group that was determined to attack the Germans whenever possible. When they attacked, they were able to steal weapons to carry on their work. At one point, he saved Alicia's life. Milek was Alicia's hero.
