Tim Fuller is Alexandra's Dad. He is more stable than her mother is. He provides for the family by working as a tobacco farmer, raising cattle and managing farms for others. During the revolution in Zimbabwe, Tim Fuller volunteers to defend the white government against the black population on ten-day patrols into the countryside. Despite Dad's hard work, the family is very poor by today's standards. They wear clothes from thrift shops, have meager meals, and buy used books as a special treat.
