What happens at the bank when it gets low on money and what does Edgar do about it?

Edgar discovers his cash on hand drops to $145,000 within one hour. At this rate by eleven-thirty he will be out of cash. He immediately takes the cash drawers into the vault, locks it and closes the bank to resolve the problem. He believes he cannot go on without credit or cash and civilization is ending. He refuses to face humiliation and holds an old pistol of his father's to his head. He pulls the trigger.
