Who is John from Age of Iron and what is their importance?

John is one of Bheki's friends. He stays at Mrs. Curren's house until he is attacked by police and hospitalized. Mrs. Curren described John as arrogant and possibly hate-filled. He leaves the hospital before being discharged and returns to Mrs. Curren's home, where he stays until his illegal activities are discovered.
