People who participated in the Civil Rights Movement wanted to establish social change and show their dedication to the cause of ending segregation, racial discrimination, and social injustice. Leaders wanted to empower the people, and demonstrate to the government that change was imminent.... that nothing less than an end to discrimination was to be tolerated..... that their movement was well planned, well thought out, and prepared to see it through to the end.
