In Chapter Four, Meg's tessering is described as a feeling of nothingness. She cannot see, hear, or feel anything. Before landing her body begins to tingle, which signals the return of her senses.
The 2D planet is a completely different experience, as Meg is completely flattened (crushed) and unable to breathe. The flattening also interferes with her mind's ability to function.
