The author uses a first person narrative throughout the story. This point of view is vital to the telling of the tale, as the main character's journey is the focal point of the story. As the novel goes on, the viewpoint of the main character changes, and the first person point of view allows the reader to see such changes clearly. Additionally, this first person view allows the author to effectively shift between the main character and other characters as they tell their stories to the group.
