Who is David Maggis in the story, A Village After Dark?

David Maggis is one of Fletcher's former contemporaries. Whenever Fletcher hears Maggis's name, he is desperate to disparage the man's character. The negative things he says about Maggis, however, prove to be true of Fletcher himself.
