How does Fletcher overstay his welcome in the Peterson's home in the story, A Village After Dark?

Shortly after entering the Peterson's home, Fletcher remembers he once spent an exorbitant amount of time in the space. He then treats the home as if it still belongs to him, flinging himself on a bed, falling to sleep, and overstaying his welcome.
