Who is Gomo from A Step from Heaven and what is their importance?

Apa's sister, Gomo, assists Apa, Uhmma, and Young Ju in their immigration to America. She allows them to live with her and her husband until they are able to rent a home of their own. When Apa abandons the family, Gomo gives Uhmma a job at her dry cleaning business. When Uhmma has saved most of what she needs to put a down payment on a home, Gomo generously loans her the rest.
