Significance of Wren’s Phone

Wren’s cellphone represents her connection to her father. While in the Center, seeing text messages from her father makes Wren feel safer. Her father has always been there to save her and seeing that he is there while she is being kept hostage makes her believe that he will once again step in to rescue her. When the communications are cut off, Wren becomes more scared and thinks about what it will be like to die.
