Comment on structure

The novel is divided into ten chapters and an epilogue. Each of the chapters is titled using the hour in which the action occurs, such as “Ten a.m.” The chapters are quite long with each of the ten characters having at least one section of the chapter devoted to them, the exception to this being Olive since she is dead at the start of the novel. Some characters, such as Hugh and George, frequently have more than one section in a chapter.
