Why does Sylvie agree to give Lucien the gold In Book 4, Chapter V?

Lucien tells Sylvie that he has invited the Tourniers to the going-away party for Byron because he needs them to help him save the plantation. Sylvie tells him that if he will disinvite them, she will tell him where the gold is.
