Aldo's dog is the second most important character because of the time that they spend together hunting. The first part of the book is filled with the two of them going on excursions and hunting animals. His dog is very specially trained and knows the different scents of the animals in the area. In one chapter, the narrator talks about how patient his dog is with him. He feels like he is the student, and the dog is the teacher.
