Chapter 8

In Chapter Eight we learn that the baby is being set aside to die..... Bird does nothing to aid its mother or help the baby..... he's simply willing to wait until the baby's life ends.

In Chapter 13, however, we learn that Bird has changed his mind, gets the baby back to the hospital, and allows for the necessary operation. The baby lives , and Bird's life is transformed.
