Significance of Hearing Aids

Peter’s hearing aids are a symbol of age and the associated feebleness. When Peter first meets Bunny, Bunny sees the hearing aids and at first treats Peter with some respect because of his age. Peter plays along with the idea that he is old by pretending that he has forgotten entirely about Windfall and his part in it.
