Jane is Kitty's 10-year-old sister. She is the youngest of the family and does not immediately realize that Kitty's broken engagement is a disaster. Beatrice is Kitty's 19-year-old sister. Kitty leaves Beatrice in charge of the younger girls while Kitty and Cecily travel to London. Harriet is older than Jane but younger than Kitty, Beatrice, and Cecily. Kitty notes that she is a romantic at heart. The three appear in only a few scenes of the story, but they are important because they drive most of Kitty's actions.
