.
Corey “Buck” Jacobs was a successful music promoter in the 1990s who worked with some of the biggest names in rap, such as Biggie and Sean “Diddy” Combs. Brittany describes Corey at this time as “young, Black, and gifted, creating trends and changing the culture” (218). Corey attended the biggest concerts and parties in New York City, showing strategy and skill in promoting his clients. As he described in a questionnaire Brittany had him fill out to begin drafting his clemency petition, Corey viewed his purpose in life as helping to promote music, joy, and love, especially among the Black community.
