Who is Brittany Barnett from the nonfiction book, A Knock at Midnight?

Brittany K. Barnett is the author and central figure of the narrative. Brittany grew up in rural Texas and became an accountant before attending law school at Southern Methodist University. After law school, she worked as a corporate attorney while also advocating pro bono (free of charge) for multiple clients serving life sentences for non-violent drug charges. Eventually, she became a full-time activist for criminal justice reform, especially for those convicted of drug charges.
