A Feast for Crows

What sort of mental fortitude must Arya (who is 10 years old) have had to have to survive for this long? What characteristics have made her strong?

In a Feast of Crows, Arya is a very strong and very mentally tough young girl. She has watched her father be beheaded, fought to be taught sword play when at the castle, and has managed to live on the streets. Arya is gifted with being able to think on her feet which has worked in her favor many times.
