In A Feast for Crows, Jaime Lannister's hand was chopped off by Vargo Hoat before he was taken to Roose Bolton. Later, when he returns to Kings Landing he has a golden hand made to take the place of his amputated hand. He must learn to try and use it, but does not succeed at it.
