BY REZGUI AYMEN,, it is ominous,,catherine is afraid of the rain ,she sees herself dead in it and this will proove right in the end.frederic henry succeded in rassuring catherine so nshe stopped crying but it kept raining outside as if external forces were against their love.they are damed to fame as in naturalism,,this idea is further developped in chapter 21 when catherine announces to henry that she is pregnant...that is in naturalism,man is always seen ass a victime,they are forces inside him,he cannot control which means genetic biological elements that guide his actions
