Who are Bill and Violet in the novel, A Drop in the Ocean?

Bill and Violet are a couple who live on the island with their two children. Bill and Violet have been on the island since he lost his job in Sydney. Now he helps Tom when needed. Violet manages a group of four holiday cabins for an absentee owner and runs a cafe in the holiday season. Violet plans to homeschool their children until they have to go to secondary school.
