Who is Sammael from A Crown of Swords and what is their importance?

Sammael is one of the primary antagonists in A Crown of Swords. He is one of the Forsaken that are fighting to help the Dark One defeat Rand. Sammael and Rand have a battle at the end of the story and Sammael is presumably killed. It is Sammael that gives boxes to Sevanna claiming that she can travel with them. This is a lie and Sammael is able to cut her off from many of her men this way.
