Who is Egwene al'Vere from A Crown of Swords and what is their importance?

Egwene is very young and is the Amyrlin that has been raised to lead the rebels. The former Amyrlin, Siuan, is helping Egwene learn what she can in secret. Egwene is the one that sent Elayne and Nynaeve off to find the Bowl of the Winds. Egwene has Moghedien captive in her camp when someone comes and frees her. Egwene is uncertain of herself and is worried that she is going to be just a figure head for those that want to run the Amyrlin seat but soon begins to show more strength than it was known she had and take control. There are several of the Aes Sedai that swear fealty to Egwene, a feat that has never been done before to the Amyrlin.
