Fayre performed some fantastic, heroic, and terrible deeds in the first novel of the series, which cements her role as savior for the people of this realm. She discovers she is treated differently in the Spring Court than in others. In the Spring Court, Fayre symbolizes their inability to save themselves and their hope for a better future. Toward that end, Tamlin insists that she does not train to fight because that would symbolize the possibility that there might be another war coming. In the Night Court, Fayre is treated politely. However, people are expected to fight for what they believe. The polite treatment symbolizes the fact that they accept she did what was necessary and that she should be willing to do so again.
