The other members of the gang wanted more say in what they did every night, so they complained about this to Alex, calling for more democracy in the ways things are run. Alex is at first unsure about what to do, but when he hears some Beethoven from a passing car, he realizes that he must fight them to prove his worth. First, Alex fights Georgie, and then Dim. Pete refuses to fight, claiming that he had never questioned Alex's leadership.
