What kind of mutually-beneficial relationship does Alex and the prison chaplain have?

The prison chaplain has great ambitions for a powerful position in prison religion. He needs a good reference from the Governor, and he intends to get it by informing him of plots amongst the prisoners. He gets this information from Alex, who gets special treatment in return.
