A Certain Slant of Light by Laura Whitcomb is comprised of 16 chapters. They are labeled by number, without name. The chapters run between 15 and 20 pages on average. At the beginning of the book, the main character is alone in her situation, then she finds a companion. The book draws to a close with her on her own once again until the final pages where she is reunited with all she was close to in her past.
