Carlos studied medicine in El Salvador, America and France. He held a variety of prominent positions. His second wife was Alicia Lopez Harrison who was also from a prominent and wealthy family. Their daughter Alicia was born on January 1, 1933 in San Salvador. She had a brother who was five years old at the time and a half brother from her father's first marriage.
