Nikki admits to Kinsey that her marriage to Laurence was less than perfect only six months into it. Laurence was a serial adulterer. Nikki had kept a diary about his affairs, for which she gathered information on by following him around. This made her look like the likely suspect in his murder. But she claims she lost interest in him after a while and realized the marriage was doomed. Kinsey agrees to take on the case but fears it might be very cold after eight years.
