The Chocolate War why is obies position an empty sacifice? , and how do the goal posts sybolize his sacrifice? Asked by googie103 on 07 Mar 16:20 Last updated by anonymous on 13 Nov 22:29
Because Obie feels as if he should have tried out for football, and he's throwing his highschool life out for an "empty" cause. The goal posts symbolize crucifixes that are empty, or so to speak. They are there but wthout a cause.
