Well, the characters in book four from the Odyssey by Homer were faced with challenging tasks. The main character, (the man of twists and turns) - Odysseus is the man trying to get back home to Ithaca to his family... Penelope and his son Telemachus, btw. he has a dog too (Argos). He is famous for his Trojan Horse trick in the first part of the epic poem: (The Iliad) and the Odyssey is the second part of the epic. It takes him about roughly twenty years to return home after the ten year Trojan War. While on his sail home with his crew, he ends up losing all of his shipmates. These are some reasons why... the Cyclops - he escaped by using the woolly sheep, Sirens - the deadly mermaids that sing songs to sailors to hypnotize them into crashing their ships, Circe of Aeaea - she's a sea witch, sorceress, enchantress, or nymph: it depends what story you're reading that she's in.

Odysseus gets home later on... you'll read soon... sort of.

I would suggest skimming that website to find out more information... it's a very detailed description with footnotes and definitions at the bottom.

I HOPE THIS HELPS! (:
