Main conflict?

The main conflict in Chapter Thirteen of the text is that of Bardamu's lack of money. He struggles with finding somewhere to eat, and somewhere to sleep, all while trying to figure out who he can borrow money from. The idea of finding a job and working for the money he needs is never addressed.
