Plato conceived the ideal state as a class based system formed by outlining a division between the spiritual, the courageous, the producers, and governance by wisdom. Philospher Kings would make decisions based on common sense (reason) and what was good for their people; the courageous would provide pretection for the people and uphold the laws; producers would provide for the needs of society.
