When he finally finishes, Mr. Stryver tells Carton that he wants to talk to him. He tells Carton that he intends to marry Lucie Manette. He adds that he is ready to make a change in his life and to have a home that he can look forward to going to. He then tells Carton that he is concerned about his prospects, and that he should find a woman to marry to take care of and look after him. He tells him to think about it, and Carton replies that he will.
