Objective
The objective of this Daily Lesson is for students to analyze Emezi's descriptions of Feyi's attitudes about sex and love in Part I. When the reader meets Feyi, she is 29 and has been a widow for about five years following her husband Jonah's death in a car accident. Feyi decides she is ready to have sex again, but she does not want any deep emotional attachments. In Chapter One, Emezi explains in vivid, specific detail what Feyi feels like during and after her first sexual encounter since her husband's death.
Lesson
Class Discussion: Why is it such a significant moment for Feyi to have sex with Milan in Chapter One? How does Feyi feel while having sex with Milan, and afterwards? What does sex mean to Feyi at this point in her life?
