There is a wealth of information about the removal of the Cherokees from the Eastern United States and why there is a remnant left in Western North Carolina. It is a gripping story. Have a group of students research this event in American history, and find a creative way to retell the story to the entire class.

Native American Contributions to our Overall Culture

There are a variety of things that were brought into our culture by Native Americans. Corn, tobacco, moccasins, and certain horse breeds are just a few. Have the students identify some of these contributions and develop a display that highlights the items you identify.
