Objective

The objective of this lesson is for students to explore the author’s background and personal interest in the subject matter reflected in the novel.

Lesson

Class Discussion: Who is the author of White Fragility? What is her background? What does she do for a living? What is her connection to the book's subject matter?

Small Group Activity: Divide students into small groups and ask students to compile a list of facts about the author, encouraging them to include information that works to further highlight her connection to the subject matter. Regroup and ask students to share their facts. Write a list on the board so it is visible to all students.
