Objective
At the beginning of the book, Robin Murphy has very little confidence that his relationship with Sophie Stein will last now that they are back at school. He assumes that because she is popular and he is not, peer pressure will cause Sophie to break up with him. Robin doubts that Sophie likes him as much as he likes her because of years of teasing from the other kids at school. This lesson will discuss the way that the opinions of peers shapes a person's view of themself.

1) Partner discussion: Robin's first words in the book are "Better brace yourself, loser." He then goes on to prepare himself for the inevitability that Sophie is going to break up with him. Even though Sophie has said nothing that would make Robin believe this, he has already convinced himself that Sophie is going to end their relationship...
