Atom Model
Just like Richard's father was making examples for Richard to learn by have the class make a model of an atom. They may use any type of materials they find suitable to represent the different parts of an atom. Students can use different materials for the nucleus, protons, and electrons and so forth. Have the students present their model to the class and explain what type of atom it is.
