Write a Reply Story
Choose a poem that conveys a message that you either strongly agree or strongly disagree with. Just as Dybek does in "We Didn't," write a story that replies to the poem. Your story should have a clear setting, at least one defined character, a clear conflict, and a satisfying resolution. Incorporate features of the poem into your story in some way and use plot, character, and other story elements to convey a theme that clearly agrees or disagrees with the poem your story replies to.
